Guidance

Somewhere in Brussels, on a sunny afternoon in May, once upon a now, a woman said, in response to Yet Another Example of Complete Stupidity by a Human, "**People need guidance**".

"People need guidance," is a form of expression called a "definitive statement", which is closely related to another kind of expression called an "imperative", when a person tells another person what to do, perhaps with the unexpressed, yet felt sense that the imperative concludes with the words "or else" and an exclamation mark !

Such an imperative would be "Don't Panic!", a pairing of words and two punctuation marks widely used on Earth at the time the Guide Mark III was being conceived. There is much to be said about that imperative and why it was so popular and we very very strongly suggest you read all about it.

In regards to Guidance, one of the challenges during that Wholly Remarkable Epoch in the history of Homo Sapiens, was that no-one really knew who was the best person or group of persons to guide. And to guide them to do what?! And how would they communicate their guidance? And in what language? And how often?

Some reminded others of that great question from Juno the Poet, in Ancient Greece, translated into English as "Who guards the guards?" and followed it up with, "...so who guides the guides?"

Someone else, perhaps only a few streets away in Brussels on that same sunny day in May, may have said, "It's guides all the way down..."
